Welcome to our new Head Office!
Following the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at Kemtek’s new Head Office in Midrand, Gauteng, Managing Director, Graham Comins, explains why the relocation decision was made, and how it is already paying dividends.

A seamless transition
The move from our home of many years (in City Deep, to the south of Johannesburg), was a classic case of ‘push’ and ‘pull’ factors. Unfortunately, the City Deep area had become prone to urban decay, which made it difficult for us to interact with customers and suppliers, and offer stakeholders a true Kemtek experience (founded on innovation, customer service, and a commitment to going beyond technology).
The new Midrand headquarters, in contrast, allows us to provide a welcome, engaging experience in a modern, flexible setting that is much better aligned with Kemtek’s growth and sustainability goals.
At the same time, we have also opened a new Service and Distribution Centre in Germiston. Maintaining cohesion across two locations is something that Kemtek has taken in its stride – we already have a nationwide network of regional offices, each of which offers the same exceptional service levels.
The degree of planning which we bring to all aspects of our business was much in evidence during the move, which was managed in such a way that all operations continued seamlessly. The change management process used communication (both internally and externally) to minimise disruption, and our planning even involved assessing which month of the year typically sees the lowest level of customer service enquiries.
Better for business
We have a proud track record of evolution as a leading supplier of technology solutions. The fact that change is in our DNA made this transition relatively easy – even when considering the separation of the Sales and Administration, and Logistics functions.
Each of these is now contained in a purpose-designed facility – the Service and Distribution Centre should be able to operate as a de facto centre of excellence, allowing us to demonstrate the latest warehousing technologies in a real-world, real-time setting.
The move to Midrand allows Kemtek to offer our customers a more immersive experience as they learn about solutions for their business. The attractiveness and accessibility of the Midrand premises will also play a role in attracting and retaining top talent – one of the ways that we have been able to maintain our competitive edge.
Better for our stakeholders
We have always prided ourselves on being available to all our stakeholders. The new Midrand Experience Centre takes this to the next level, and its slick, modern feel speaks to our status within the industry.
Excellent transport links mean that Midrand is easier to reach from anywhere in Gauteng (or beyond). This also enables an enhanced degree of flexibility in terms of working hours, and extended customer service availability each day. A case of ‘some of the people all of the time’ rather than ‘all of the people some of the time.’
Better for the planet – and for people
The sustainability of our new Midrand Head Office played a role in its selection. As a more modern premises, it is more cost-effective (enabling cost savings across the board). Even more importantly, it is a very green location. Set within an award-winning landscape, the energy-efficient design means we can make further reductions in our carbon footprint.
The new building makes better use of space, as well as being a more pleasant place to work and visit. With excellent coffee shops and restaurants, a gym and world-class retail therapy (the Mall of Africa) all close by, Midrand is a great place for our people to work and play, too. We couldn’t be happier with our new home, and we look forward to welcoming you all very soon.
