A fascinating campaign to reduce ocean plastic.
When Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in May 2018, the royal couple requested donations to charity rather than gifts. Drinks company SodaStream rose to the challenge like a bubble in a bottle of sparkling water.
Taking their inspiration from real hats worn by the Royal Family, SodaStream created the Royal Edition. These limited-edition bottles come in a premium folded carton (more on that later) made of SBS (Solid Bleached Sulfate – the very highest quality paperboard substrate).
At the request of Prince Harry and Meghan, all profits from sales of the Royal Edition were donated to anti-pollution charity Surfers Against Sewage. SodaStream had already taken a stand against single-use plastics, so this was entirely aligned with their brand values.
The stunning folding carton presentation pack took its style cues from the iconic cream and gold invitations to the Royal Couple’s special day, and (combined with the choice of substrate) lent a positively regal feel to each unit.
Using a HP Indigo 3000 digital press, SodaStream were able to create an engaging, cause-led limited edition that perfectly captured the zeitgeist whilst enticing consumers with an ultra-premium look and feel. Best of all, it made more consumers aware of the issue of ocean plastics.
