The ZortraxApoller is a smart vapour smoothing device for FDM 3D prints that automatically removes visible layering from models. It works in 3 simple steps, giving 3D printed models the look of injection moulded parts. The finish can be glossy or matt depending on the filament you choose. The ultra-reliable Apoller’s process is fully automated, clean and safe.
The Zortrax Apoller’s process is simplicity itself: first, the model must be placed in the smoothing chamber. Secondly, the door must be closed, and the settings chosen with the intuitive touch interface. Finally, the model is taken out of the chamber, and the smoothing process is done!
Vapour smoothing requires extreme care, as acetone and butanone are highly volatile and flammable. The automated Apoller is double sealed from the environment making the process clean and safe for operators, and redundancy engineered for industrial-class reliability.
The Apoller uses Zortrax’s own proprietary SVS technology, working with both acetone and butanone. Advanced algorithms manage temperature, pressure and the solvent’s vapour concentration at all times. A 300ml bottle of solvent can be used to smooth multiple prints, while a combined weekly output of 4 typical FDM 3D printers can be smoothed in just one day.
The Apoller’s smoothing chamber measures 300 x 250 x 250mm. It uses an Android operating system with a quad core processor, and features Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity and an advanced vapour circulation system. It can smooth models printed with Z-ABS, Z-ULTRAT, Z-ULTRAT Plus, A-ASA Pro, and Z-HIPS, and also works with external materials including ABS, ASA and HIPS.
